Isiya Danwasa, a prominent bandit commander, and his crew were attacked by troops of operation Forest Sanity under the 1 Division Nigerian Army after receiving a tip from human intelligence sources.
According to Intelligence acquired, the bandit commander planned to send Yunusa, one of his errand boys, to Kaduna town to buy some weapons.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Army’s spokesman, Lt.Col. Musa Yahaya, stated that Danwasa’s errand boy had subsequently been followed, captured by soldiers wearing plain clothes, and used to entice two of the bandits’ leaders to a certain ammo storage location.
The two bandit commanders were neutralised when troops who had been ambushed arrived and attacked the outlaws with greater firepower.
Among the items recovered from Danwasa are: One motorbike, two AK 47 weapons, six AK 47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62 mm special, one power bank, two charm vest, and the value of two hundred thousand naira.
Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Punch, praised the soldiers for their exemplary behavior and duty completion.
He also ordered the military to pursue any outlaws without mercy. The GOC once more urged the public to continue providing the military and other security services with reliable and actionable intelligence in order to put a permanent end to banditry, abduction, and other crimes.
