American rapper, Ice Cube has weighed in on Artificial Intelligence infiltrating the music industry, with the release of numerous fake records. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member made it known in a recent podcast that he’s not one of the artists to mess with when it comes to (AI).
The American rapper, actor and film maker born, O’Shea Jackson Sr. on the Full Send podcast, revealed that he would take legal measures if someone were to create a track utilizing his likeness without seeking his permission. Speaking on the false records already released online, the west coast rapper said
“I don’t wanna hear an AI Drake song,” Yeah, I don’t wanna hear that b***. He should sue whoever made it.” Further adding “And I’mma sue the m****ka who made it and the people and the platform who play it,”
Ice Cube maintained that “Somebody can’t take your original voice and manipulate it without having to pay. He even said AI is demonic and is going to get a backlash from organic people.”
The discussions surrounding AI in music continue to raise several concerns by artist and record label as well as mixed reactions from others. In the past month heavyweight record producer Timbaland has shown enthusiasm at the possibilities AI could offer and on the other hand Universal Music group has forced all streaming platforms to withdraw from sharing such fake records of their artists.
