The Nigerian Senate has completed the screening of 45 out of 48 ministerial nominees put forward by President Bola Tinubu. During its plenary on August 7th, the Senate officially ratified 45 of the nominees, granting them positions as members of the cabinet.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio subjected the nominations to a series of voice votes. Three of them—former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai, Stella Okotete from Delta State, and Abubakar Danladi from Taraba State—are currently undergoing security clearance and have not yet been confirmed.
This confirmation comes more than a week after Tinubu transmitted a list of 28 members to the red chamber for confirmation on July 27th.
