The Federal Government has announced the restructuring of the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office’s (NASSCO) management team in order to ensure the effective implementation of Nigeria’s national social investment programme.
Dr. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, made the announcement in Abuja on Tuesday through her media aide, Rasheed Zubair.
The minister stated that the move was in accordance with President Tinubu‘s directive to restructure the Social Safety Net Programme and address the ministry’s expanded mandate, which included poverty alleviation.
She announced new appointments in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to provide long-term solutions to Nigeria’s humanitarian crises and multidimensional poverty.
According to the statement, the minister stated that NASSCO would be chaired by herself, with Dr. Abel Enitan, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, serving as Secretary.
Others appointed include Abdulaziz Danladi, National Coordinator of NASSCO; Dr. Michael Ajuluchukwu, Head of the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO); and Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, Deputy Head of the NCTO Office.
Richard Romanus, the National Programme Manager of Youth Empowerment and Social Support Operations (YESSO), and Jamalu Kaburu, the National Communication Managers of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), have also joined the team.
Chidinma Makuachukwu is the National Programme Manager for the Renewed Hope Shelter Programme for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, and Thalis Apalowo is the National Programme Manager for Grants for Vulnerable Groups.
Others include Salia Sanusi Yusuff, Programme Manager, At Risk Children Programme; and Dr. Joseph Nkang, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme ( MSME Loan Programme).
Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, Programme Manager, N-Power Programme (Renewed Hope Skills Acquisition Programme), and Etcheri Ansa, National Alternate School Programme (out-of-school children), made the list.
The team includes Olubunmi Bello, National Project Manager, Community and Social Development Programme.
As a result, the minister charged the new appointees with bringing their wealth of experience to bear in ensuring the success of the Federal Government’s renewed hope agenda.
While assuring the appointees that their appointments would be effective immediately, the minister stated that there would be no room for excuses or failure to carry out the mandate.
