Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a Ghanaian lady, is embarking on a journey to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon. Her goal is to surpass the existing record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours in March 2012.
Afua began her singing marathon at midnight on December 24 and aims to continue without a break until December 27, totaling 4 days and 9 hours of continuous singing. She has been performing Ghanaian songs back-to-back at the Akwaaba village, where various Ghanaians, including A-list musicians and politicians, have gathered to support her. Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia was also present to show his support.
The event has gained significant attention on social media, making the 2023 Christmas season in Ghana memorable. Afua’s effort has received commendation from social media users and attendees, highlighting the promotion of Ghanaian songs during the Yuletide.
