Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has officially signed the 2024 budget, totaling over 199 billion Naira, into law at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of key dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Principal Officers, Members of the State Assembly, State Chief Judge Justice Aisha Bashir, Emir of Lafia Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad (Rtd), and State Chairman of APC, Alh. Aliyu Bello, among other stakeholders.
The 2024 budget, aptly named the “Budget of Renewed Commitment,” was praised by Governor Sule for its estimated sum of over 199 billion Naira. He expressed appreciation to the speaker and assembly members for their diligence in executing their duties. Governor Sule pledged to implement the budget within economic thresholds, emphasising strict adherence to its provisions. He urged the state assembly members to remain committed to their oversight functions, highlighting their crucial role in addressing identified loopholes.
Speaker Danladi Jatau echoed the commitment of the state legislative arm to support Governor Abdullahi Sule in pursuing people-oriented programmes. He emphasised that the budget underwent all necessary legislative procedures, ensuring its legitimacy and alignment with the state’s development goals.
The State Commissioner of Finance, Munirah Abdullahi, credited the budget committee and other contributors for their significant roles in the successful passage of the budget by the state assembly. The signing marks a significant milestone for Nasarawa State, reinforcing its dedication to fiscal responsibility and the implementation of programmes for the benefit of its residents.
