Rwanda’s Ministry in charge of Emergency Management (MINEMA) it welcomed 153 asylum seekers evacuated from Libya.
The 16th batch of asylum seekers who are from five nationalities had 82 Sudanese, 56 Eritreans, 9 Ethiopians,5 Somalis, and one person from South Sudanese. They will join other evacuees who arrived earlier at the Gashora Transit Center.
The centre is located in Gashora Sector, Bugesera District, of Eastern Province.
According to the MINEMA, the 15th group had 169 asylum seekers, originating from Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and South Sudan.
With the 16th batch, a total of 2059 evacuees have arrived since September 2019, MINEMA data shows. About 68 per cent of them were resettled to third countries.
Those are Canada where 381 relocated, Sweden 255, Norway 193, USA 168, Finland 187, France 141, Netherlands 82, and Belgium 26.
