An aircraft owned by Japan Airlines was up in flames on a runway at the Haneda Airport in capital city, Tokyo.
In footage released by Japan’s public media organisation, NHK, flames were seeing coming out of the aircraft’s windows and burning debris on the runway.
It showed the plane in a brisk motion on the runway before an explosion from beneath it followed.
According to the country’s coast guard, there is a possibility that a plane must have crashed into the Japan Airlines flight.
The airline says the plane can carry over 300 passengers on a single trip. The cause of the explosion is still unclear but television reports say theJapan Airlines plane may have had a collision at the airport.
A spokesperson at Japan Airlines said the aircraft had departed from Shin-Chitose Airport in Hokkaido. There were almost 367 passengers were evacuated from the plane after the incident.
