President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Asmara in the early afternoon hours today for a two-day working visit in Eritrea.
The President and his delegation were accorded a warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki upon his arrival at the Asmara International Airport.
President Isaias Afwerki and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will deliberate on strengthening bilateral ties as well as regional and international cooperation.
The meeting is coming following a meeting with an Egyptian delegation in Mogadishu on Sunday.
The Egyptian delegation had arrived in Mogadishu a day earlier but the details were kept confidential until after the meeting with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
In an official statement, the Somalia Presidency, Villa Somalia, announced, “the delegation conveyed an official invitation for President Hassan Sheikh to visit Egypt.”
The Egyptian delegation reiterated President El Sisi’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
