Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, disclosed that King Charles will be undergoing treatment in hospital next week for an enlarged prostate.
The King will, for this reason, be mandated to take a short break from public appearances and social engagements to fully recuperate.
A statement from the Palace read:
“In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.
“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.
“The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”
The news of King Charles’ surgery comes shortly after Kensington Palace shared that Princess Kate Middleton has been admitted in hospital, and recovering from a recent abdominal surgery.
The wife of Prince William and future Queen was admitted to The London Clinic on Tuesday, and is likely to remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, after which she will be returning home to continue her journey of full recovery.
