A senior executive of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) identified as Mr Aondo Ver has been kidnapped by suspected bandits in the FCT Abuja today.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, and FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh were unavailable for comments.
However, News Central gathered that the attack happened near a military base at the entrance of Bwari very close to Pambara Extension in Abuja.
Ver was kidnapped close to Pambara Extension which is about 200 metres away from the military base.
The kidnappers moved quickly through the bush and escaped with their victim, before security men could respond.
Confirming the incident, the FHA spokesperson, Kenneth Chigelu explained that the director is a staff of its mortgage bank, a self-directed institution.
Chigelu said before the abduction, the FHA event scheduled for today, is the handing over of 40 housing units to owners in Gwarinpa. The event has now stalled, due to the incident.
The FHA Managing Director, Senator Gbenga Ashafa expressed concerns over the escalating cases of abductions.
There has been an alarming surge of insecurity in the FCT, causing fear and anxiety in the outskirts of the city.
