Famous singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman delivered a heartwarming performance of her 1988 hit song, “Fast Car”, along with country musician Luke Combs at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday night.
Combs’ cover of “Fast Car” propelled the song back to the top charts last year 2023.
Chapman, who hasn’t performed live in years, received a standing ovation from the crowd who cheered on excitedly.
In 1989, Chapman was a recipient of the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance for her song “Fast Car”. She also won several other categories including Best New Artist and Best Contemporary Folk Recording.
“Tracy’s such an icon and, I mean, one of the best songwriters that I think any of us will ever be around to see and it’s such a cool, full circle moment for me to be associated with her in any way is super humbling for me,” Combs spoke of the legendary singer.
