Residents of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Monday, hit the street to protest the skyrocketing price of food and the state of the economy.
According to reports, demonstrators gathered in the Mokola area of the state, waving placards with statements such as ‘End food price hikes and inflation,’ ‘The poor are suffering,’ and ‘Tinubu, remember your promises,’ among others.
They also expressed their concerns through chants. Despite the rally’s peaceful tone, armed police officers were present as attendees expressed their dissatisfaction with the economic hardships aggravated by the termination of fuel subsidies.
