Burkina Faso’s health ministry has warned of a possible measles epidemic, citing 2,190 suspected cases, 960 confirmed cases, and five deaths in 2023. From January 1 to February 10, 2024, or the sixth week of this year, there were 1,269 suspected cases of measles and four deaths.
Cases of this extremely contagious disease were discovered in the districts of Boulmiougou and Bogodogo in the Centre region, Ouahigouya in the North region, the Tougouri region in the center-north, and Solenzo and Boromo in the Boucle du Mouhoun.
