FIFA World Cup winner and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned from football for four years over doping on Thursday, February 29.
Pogba, who has been under suspension since September, was tested in August, and results revealed heightened levels of testosterone – an endurance-boosting hormone commonly associated with athletes.
The tribunal determined that Pogba breached anti-doping regulations after detecting “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites,” indicating a prohibited substance.
The results were deemed to be “consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds.”
Following a second examination of the test sample, the World Cup-winning France international has been handed the maximum penalty for this offense; a four-year ban.
The doping punishment may end the former Manchester United star’s career in football.
