Kenyan security operatives have arrested seven persons linked to the gang-raping of a lady in a village in Bomet.
The arrest on Thursday follows the circulation of a video on social media, which showed a lady being gang raped by men in a house.
The woman was heard shouting while the miscreants continued to violate her.
The incident took place in Chebanyi village in Kimaya, Chepalungu, and the culprits are now called ‘Sigor Boys’.
The area chief and Nyumba Kumi elders with the help of security operatives combed the area until the arrest the seven suspects was effected.
Police added that they will charge the suspects to court and apply to hold them for longer as the probe goes on.
The incident which happened in December 2023 has been condemned online with many calling for heavy penalties to address such incidents.
In Kenya, gang rape attracts a life sentence. The law says any person who commits the offence of rape or defilement in association with another or others, or any person who, with common intention is in the company of another or others who commit the offence of rape or defilement is guilty of an offence termed gang rape.
