Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced a call for entries for a new logo design for Osun State. Entries are to be submitted from April 19 to Friday, April 26.
This decision comes in response to public and opposition outcry over the design initially released by the state government on Wednesday via social media. In July 2023, the Osun State House of Assembly repealed the state Anthem, Crest, and Flag Law 2012, replacing it with a new law empowering the executive branch to create a new logo for the state.
Governor Adeleke signed a bill adopting the new logo on Wednesday, but the design faced criticism, particularly from the Allied Peoples Movement and the Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party, who deemed it a misuse of taxpayer funds and below standard.
In response to the feedback, the governor has announced a logo crafting competition, accepting entries from April 19 to April 26. The winning design will be unveiled on April 30 during the new edition of Ipade Imole, with compensation for the top three designers.
