Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State in Southwest Nigeria, has initiated a significant road dualisation project in Ilesa town, to show his commitment to balancing infrastructure development with poverty alleviation. Governor Adeleke kicked off the Brewery-Palace road dualisation project, emphasising the importance of not only enhancing physical infrastructure but also investing in human development initiatives.
Speaking at the ‘Ipade Imole’ interactive session held in Ilesa, Osun State, Adeleke outlined plans to construct over 16.5 kilometres of roads across the Osun East Senatorial District, allocating 1.5 kilometres per local government area.
The selected 6.2-kilometre stretch, with a width of 9.0 metres, aims to improve transportation efficiency and facilitate trade flow between the Ilesa city centre and surrounding regions.
This road project, scheduled for completion within 12 months, signifies the commencement of the second phase of Adeleke’s ambitious 100 billion infrastructural plan launched on October 27, 2023.
Governor Adeleke emphasised his administration’s dedication to continuity by not only maintaining existing projects inherited from previous administrations but also expanding and enhancing their value.
He stated, “In our upholding of governance as a continuum, we initiated our landmark infra agenda alongside a multi-sector social investment programme. We have so far maintained a fair balance between what our people have come to regard as ‘stomach infrastructure’ and hard capital infrastructure.
Governor Adeleke highlighted ongoing infrastructure developments across the state, including the construction of flyover bridges and road dualisation projects, with the first phase expected to conclude later this year.
Furthermore, Governor Adeleke announced plans to commence a flyover project at Mayfair, Ile Ife, in the coming days, assuring citizens of adherence to due process and procurement regulations in project execution.
