Temitope Adeshina concluded her National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season spectacularly by earning her spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the women’s High Jump final at the NCAA Championships.
Adeshina achieved a Personal Best (PB), Meeting Record (MR), and National Record (NR) of 1.97m on her final attempt, placing her 3rd based on countbacks behind Rose Yeboah and Elena Kulichenko, who both cleared the same height of 1.97m to tie for 1st place.
The Texas Tech freshman had struggled to regain her outstanding indoor form in the outdoor season, with her highest jump before the competition being a 1.90m, which was also her Season’s Best (SB).
After clearing the impressive 1.97m, Adeshina attempted to clear 2.00m but was unsuccessful in all her attempts.
Adeshina now holds both the High Jump Indoor and Outdoor National Records, previously held by Doreen Amata.
