Severe windstorm and heavy rain have devastated Kaugama Local Government Area in Jigawa State, causing the collapse of over 100 houses and significant property loss.
Residents of Kaugama town are grieving the destruction of their homes and belongings.
One of the victims reported that his two-room house collapsed, resulting in the loss of all his possessions except for a few items.
Another resident stated his three-room apartment suffered severe damage, losing its roofing.
Garba Musa Yalo Kaugama from Unguwar Gabas also reported his two-room house was completely destroyed, with all belongings damaged.
Dr. Haruna Mairiga, Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), announced that a response team had been sent to assess the damage and assist the victims.
He assured that the agency would offer assistance, noting that other regions, such as Fagam in Gwaram Local Government and sections of Ringim Local Government, were also impacted.
