The Police Service Commission (PSC) has called on President Bola Tinubu, to fire the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over his alleged intermeddling in the recent recruitment of police constables.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, the Joint Union Congress of the PSC claimed that some top officers within the Nigerian Police Force attempted to smuggle in names during the recruitment process, and said the reaction of the Police is diversionary.
According to the union, the NPF aims to prevent the president from seeing the lack of readiness at the police training schools to handle the training of recruits due to the poor condition of the facilities.
The move comes after the PSC recently released 10,000 names of successful candidates employed during the recent recruitment exercise by the commission. The list was rejected by the NPF, who claimed the recruitment process as fraudulent.
