Traditional leaders have started arriving at the venue for Katsina State’s inaugural Northwest Peace and Security Summit, organised by the North-West Governors’ Forum in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The two-day summit is taking place at General Muhammadu Buhari House in Katsina, from Monday, June 24 to Tuesday, June 25.
The event, hosted by the Katsina State Government and the first of its kind in the region, will unite governors from the northwest and key partners to tackle the pressing security challenges facing the area.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, will officially open the event, joined by governors from Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states.
As of now, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, and the Emir of Zaria, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, have already arrived and settled at the venue.
Further updates on the security summit will follow as it progresses…
