The President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Nigeria, Emmanuel Osodoke has declared that the Union is not interested in another industrial action.
He made this declaration appearing as a guest on News Central TV’s Tuesday morning show tagged Breakfast Central.
He said “This government haven’t had any meeting with us. We have given them enough time, one year is a quarter of a tenure so it’s enough time to settle down and have a discussion with us”.
“Some members of this government were part of those who intervened in resolving 2022 strike (Particularly Femi Gbajabiamila) but since they got there no meeting have been done”.
“All we want is the implementation of 2009 resolution between the Nigerian Government and ASUU” .
It’s been 15 years but we are still fighting for the same thing, He added.
“We are giving this government four weeks to meet with us and discuss.”
The people and media should stop talking about strike rather they should find a way to compel the government to meet with ASUU and Implement the 2009 resolution.
