The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has increased the electricity tariff for Band A customers who get 20-24 hours of daily power supply.
The increment was announced in a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Abdulazeez Abdullahi on Wednesday.
The electricity tariff increased from N206.80 to N209.9 per Kilowatt-hour.
This is the second time Kaduna Disco has increased the Band A tariff since April 3, 2024.
“The Management of Kaduna Electric informs the public of an upward review in the tariff of Band A feeders from N206.80/kWh to N209.5/kWh.
“The review is effective from July 1 2024 and affects both prepaid and postpaid customers. Kaduna Electric assures customers on its Band A feeders of the continued availability of 20-24hrs supply daily as stipulated in the Service Based Tariff regime.
“The public should please note that the tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains un- changed”, the statement partly reads.
Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission(NERC) on April 3, 2024, approved tariff hikes for electricity customers by 245% to N225 per kWh from N68.
A reduction was later announced in May 2024 after an outrage by customers.
In May 2024, the electricity distribution companies later announced a minor reduction, which NERC confirmed, offering a glimmer of hope after customers’ initial outrage.
