Several electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) in Nigeria announced an upward review of tariffs for Band A customers on Wednesday. The review takes effect from July 1.
The distribution companies stated that customers within the Band A regime will now pay N209/kWH, up from the previous N206/kWH, noting that the tariffs for the remaining Bands remain unchanged.
In April, the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved a significant hike in electricity tariffs from N68/kWh to N225/kWh, which drew criticism and legal fireworks nationwide.
While the DISCOs had a downward review of its tariff for the select customers from N225/kWh to N206/kWh in May, it said the recent hike was to fulfil its services to its customers.
