Former champion and fourth seed Elena Rybakina cruised into the Wimbledon semi-finals with a clinical win 6-3 6-2 victory over Elina Svitolina on Centre Court.
The Kazakh needed just over an hour to overcome her opponent, and she’ll now play in the semi-final for the first time since she won the title two years ago.
Both players started the match trading breaks in the opening games, making the first set fairly even. Surprisingly, Svitolina dropped serve to love when trailing 4-3, and Rybakina took advantage to close out the first set.
She took that momentum in the second set, immediately breaking Svitolina with a powerful forehand into the corner. She secured another break at 4-2 and clinically served out the match to reach the last four of a Grand Slam for the first time since her achievement in the 2023 Australian Open final.
The 25-year-old will face Barbora Krejcikova for a place in the final after the Czech star upset Jelena Ostapenko in the other quarter-final match.
