Five people have been killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire in a nursing home in Daruvar, central Croatia on Monday, state media reports.
The shooter, identified as a “war veteran” and a relative of a resident, fled the scene but was quickly arrested at a nearby café.
The shooting at the care facility happened around 10 a.m., and the suspect is now under police supervision, the regional police office said in a statement. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.
This violent incident is unusual in Croatia, where gun violence is rare.
