Manchester City and Athletico Madrid have reached a deal for the transfer of Argentine forward Julian Alvarez to the Madric club for a fee in the region of £82m (€95m).
Negotiations between the clubs have been going well over the past day. Atletico will initially pay £64m, with the rest of the amount coming in the form of add-ons. This sale will set a new record for City.
This deal represents a significant profit compared to the £14m the Premier League champions paid River Plate for the Argentine forward in January 2022.
Personal terms still have to be agreed, although this is not expected to be a problem.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium two and a half years ago, Alvarez has made 103 appearances for City, scoring 36 goals.
The Argentine international has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup. He was also part of the Argentine team that won the World Cup in Qatar two years ago.
