The Nigerian 4 x 400 relay team have been disqualified from the event, despite finishing second in the semi-final heat on Friday.
The quartet, comprising Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie, was disqualified by the referee for impeding a South African athlete during a changeover.
As a result, the South African men’s team advanced to the final instead and will be joined by Botswana, who finished first in their heat and overall, with a top time of 2:57.76.
They will contest for the podium in the final with Great Britain, the United States, Japan, France, Belgium, Zambia, and Italy.
