Hamas has praised Namibia for its decision to block a ship carrying weapons destined for Israel from docking on its shores. The move, according to Hamas, aligns with Namibia’s longstanding support for the Palestinian people and its opposition to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In a statement, Hamas described the actions by Namibia as both honorable and courageous, highlighting that they resonate with the broader African Union stance in support of Palestinian rights. The movement also urged other nations to increase efforts to boycott and isolate Israel, while pressuring for an end to its actions in Palestinian territories.
Namibia’s Justice Minister, Yvonne Dausab, confirmed on Tuesday that the MV Kathrin, a ship originating from Vietnam, was prevented from docking at Walvis Bay due to its cargo of “explosive material destined for Israel.” The ship is believed to have been en route to the Mediterranean via the Strait of Gibraltar.
