Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, has appointed two top Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) coaches, Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede, as his assistants for the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Ilechukwu, who recently led Enugu Rangers to an NPFL championship, and Ogunmodede, who has successfully guided Remo Stars to continental football, will bring their expertise to the national team.
These appointments follow the departure of Finidi George and are part of the Nigerian Football Federation’s (NFF) strategy to strengthen the coaching staff with local talent after negotiations with German manager Bruno Labbadia fell through.
Eguavoen, now in his fourth stint with the Super Eagles, will be supported by these accomplished coaches as the team prepares for the crucial qualifiers.
The NFF hopes that this new coaching team will boost the Super Eagles’ chances of securing a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
