The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Mr. Abbas Tajudeen, will engage with a group of Nigerian youths participating in the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI). This initiative comes after the Speaker’s town hall meeting on July 31, where he interacted with over 25 youth groups and promised regular dialogues to address their concerns.
Continuing his commitment to youth engagement, Speaker Abbas will host a session titled “An Afternoon with the Speaker” at the National Assembly on Wednesday for the participants of LMI Cohort 3. During this session, the Speaker will share his life experiences and leadership insights and discuss initiatives by the 10th House to support youth leadership and encourage their participation in politics.
The LMI, established in 2022 under former Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila (now Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu), is designed to equip young leaders interested in public sector leadership, particularly in the legislature. The programme provides hands-on training and engagement opportunities in governance and public service, to develop the next generation of ethical and responsive public sector leaders.
The initiative aims to enhance public service delivery and foster national cohesion by empowering young leaders with the skills, knowledge, and expertise needed for effective leadership.
