French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) announced on Wednesday that the French Football League (LFP) has proposed to mediate the dispute between Kylian Mbappe and the club regarding unpaid wages and bonuses for the striker.
Mbappe insists he is owed 55 million euros ($60.6m) by PSG, which the club contends that the 25-year-old had agreed to forgo in August 2023.
The French captain is pressing for the amount, including his signing bonus due in February, his final three months’ salary, and an “ethical bonus” for the period.
Legal representatives of both parties met on Wednesday after Mbappe, who recently moved to Real Madrid, brought his case to the LFP’s legal committee. The league then suggested mediation.
“Paris Saint-Germain is satisfied with the two-hour hearing before the commission today,” PSG stated.
“The club emphasised that the player has clearly made repeated public and private commitments that must be honoured, having received unprecedented benefits from the Club over seven fantastic years in Paris.”
“In light of the club’s oral and documented arguments, the commission stressed the need for mediation between the parties, which Paris Saint-Germain has been pursuing for many months.”
“The commission has now urged the player to consider the mediation process,” they concluded.
