The House of Representatives has passed a resolution to investigate Team Nigeria’s disappointing performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics in an effort to prevent future failures.
In the resolution passed on Thursday, the House expressed concern that none of the 82 athletes representing Nigeria managed to win a medal. Lawmakers criticised the massive budget of over ₦12 billion allocated for the event, which resulted in no returns.
The House also called on President Bola Tinubu to establish a commission of inquiry to address issues related to sports arbitration in Nigeria.
