Nollywood thriller “The Delivery Boy’ has been chosen to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Pan-African Film Festival (PAFF).
PAFF is the US’ largest gathering of black filmmakers, audiences and other stakeholders from around the world.
The movie is directed by Adekunle Adejuyigbe, a Nigerian filmmaker better known as Nodash. Adejuiyigbe took to his socials to break the good news.
“Once again, I’ve been invited to represent Something Unusual Studios, TEFT, Nigeria and Nigerian Cinema at PAFF, the largest black film festival in the US,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’m humbled. It’s a reminder to me, and to all filmmakers, that the world is paying attention to Nigerian cinema. We must remember to pay even more attention to ourselves, our work.
Nodash’s selection as Nigeria’s representative means his movie, which explores the backstory of terrorists in Nigeria, will undergo yet another screening at the festival.
‘The Delivery Boy’ had snagged the ‘Beat Achievement in Visual Effects’ award at the 2019 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The movie also screened at Jagran International Film Festival, Lake International Pan African Film Festival, and Real-Time International Film Festival — winning the ‘Best Nigerian Film’ category at the 2018 AFRIFF Globe Awards.
As the filmmaker announced, the annual event is billed to hold from February 13 to 23, 2020, at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, in Los Angeles, California.
