Several people were killed in a violent clash between herders and farmers in Kukta, Waltandi district, Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State, early Sunday morning.
Reports indicate that tensions had been building between both groups for days, resulting in the deaths of one farmer and one herder before the situation escalated.
The conflict turned deadly around 4:00 a.m. when herders allegedly attacked the community, moving through homes and killing five people.
Security personnel were quickly dispatched to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence.
Speaking on the incident, Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the deployment of officers and assured that those responsible would be held accountable.
““The CP has ordered the Homicide Section of the State CID, Yola, to embark on a detailed and comprehensive investigation into the alleged clash,” Nguroje stated.
The Commissioner expressed condolences to the affected families and promised that justice would be pursued swiftly. He also directed officers to intensify efforts to track down those involved in the violence.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue to uncover the cause of the clash and bring the perpetrators to justice.
