The Egyptian military confirmed on Tuesday that two Air Force officers were killed in a helicopter crash during a training exercise near the town of Shalufa in Suez province.
Military spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafez reported that the incident occurred due to a technical malfunction. However, he did not disclose the specific model or manufacturer of the helicopter involved.
The Egyptian Air Force operates a range of aircraft from various countries, including France, Russia, and the United States. This incident follows previous crashes, including a fighter jet that went down during a military exercise in November 2022, although that incident resulted in no casualties. In December 2019, a training exercise led to an aircraft crash, but the pilot managed to eject safely.
