A former member of the House of Representatives, Kabiru Classic, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Classic made the declaration on Thursday in Kaduna after meeting with the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, the Chairman of the Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Political Organisation, Alhaji Lawal M Liman, and other Zamfara-based APC stakeholders.
From 2019 to 2023, Alhaji Kabiru Yahayya Classic represented the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly for the People’s Democratic Party.
He joined the APC alongside the whole PDP organisation in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the PDP Local Government Chairman and all ten of the 11 PDP Ward Chairmen.
Classic stated that his defection was motivated by a lack of justice and fairness inside the Zamfara chapter of the PDP.
“I Kabiru Yahayya Classic, Today, Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the progressive party, the APC.
“I am defecting with All PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area including the Local Government EXCO of the PDP and the 10 out of 11 Ward Chairmen of the PDP.
Tukur Umar Danfulani, the State APC Chairman, welcomed Classic’s defection as a positive development for the party.
“We are delighted to welcome our brother into our great party; this represents a big milestone.
“More defectors from Zamfara’s PDP-led government are expected to join the APC soon.
“We assure Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment in the APC, as the APC has a strong structure with good internal democracy,” Dan Fulani said.
Also addressing, Alhaji Lawal M Liman, Chairman of Senator Yari’s Political Organisation, congratulated Kabiru Classic and the other defectors for joining the progressive team.
Liman highlighted that the APC is the only party with a manifesto that can propel both Zamfara and Nigeria forward.
This defection comes just a week after Federal Lawmaker Suleiman Gummi, who represents the Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, also announced his switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
