The Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Oman, Dr. Mohammed Bin Said Al-Maamari, welcomed Algeria’s Minister of State and Dean of the Great Mosque of Algiers, Shaikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Maamoun Al-Qasimi Al-Hassani, in Muscat to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in religious and cultural fields.
The meeting focused on exchanging expertise to advance the role of mosques in promoting community values, peace, and social cohesion.
Dr. Al-Maamoun praised Oman’s effective management of religious affairs, highlighting the Sultanate’s approach to endowments and mosques as valuable models for education, worship, and social support. He also expressed Algeria’s interest in learning from Oman’s efforts to foster communities grounded in values of peace and mutual respect.
The visit follows Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s recent trip to Oman, during which both countries signed several agreements across various sectors.
The discussions mark a continued strengthening of religious, scientific, and cultural exchanges between Oman and Algeria, which both share significant Ibadi Muslim communities, fostering closer ties through shared values and traditions.
