The late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, was buried on Friday at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
His remains arrived in Abuja Thursday at the Air Force Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport from Lagos at around 12:16 p.m. A Service of Songs was held in his honour later in the evening at Mogadishu Cantonment.
Major General Kelvin Aligbe, representing the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 39 Regular Course, described Lagbaja as a remarkable leader who was deeply committed to the values of service and national unity.
President Bola Tinubu in a tribute, said the COAS was “a trusted advisor whose formidable intellect and breadth of knowledge served this nation well.”
