Thousands of protesters in Morocco and Yemen took to the streets on Friday to denounce Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Lebanon, with demonstrators expressing solidarity with Palestinians and Lebanese civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.
In Morocco, cities such as Kenitra, Berrechid, Al Hoceima, and Kalaat M’Gouna witnessed large rallies after Friday prayers. Organised by the Moroccan Committee for the Support of the Ummah, a non-governmental organisation, the protests called for sustained support for Palestine and increased humanitarian aid to Gaza. Participants chanted slogans urging an end to Israel’s attacks in the region.
In Yemen, tens of thousands rallied across 14 provinces, including the capital Sana’a, in events organised by the Al-Quds Support Committee. Demonstrations occurred in Houthi-controlled areas such as Saada and Hajjah. Protesters carried flags of Yemen, Palestine, and Lebanon, alongside images of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, while chanting messages of solidarity with Gaza and Lebanon.
The protests come during escalating violence in the region. Over 43,700 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza since Israel began its invasion and relentless airstrikes following a Hamas attack last year. In Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes have caused more than 3,400 deaths and injured over 14,400 people, according to Lebanese health authorities.
On October 1, Israel expanded the conflict by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon, heightening fears of a broader regional war.
