A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to end his 31-year quest for the presidency.
Pointing out that Atiku’s pursuit of the presidency began in 1993, George stated it is time for the former Vice President to step back from this race, particularly regarding the 2027 election.
During a press briefing at his office in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Thursday, George encouraged Atiku to become an elder and leave his aspirations to future generations.
George lamented that the PDP is teetering on the brink of collapse because individuals are prioritising their personal interests and ambitions over the nation’s well-being.
He criticised the “divisive, arrogant, haughty” party members courting the ruling All Progressives Congress while failing to formally leave the PDP, labelling them as cowards.
“We find ourselves in our current situation because of a self-created crisis; we must set aside our personal ambitions now to prevent the PDP from falling apart, please. Party elders should advise some of these misguided individuals to take a step back and focus on the national interest instead of their individual agendas.” He said.
