The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Suleiman Aledeh as the substantive Managing Director of the state-owned Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).
Aledeh, an international journalist, former news anchor at News Central TV and currently a presenter at ARISE TV, assumes the position with immediate effect.
The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, announced the development in a statement issued on Saturday. The statement read in part:
“The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Suleiman Aledeh as the substantive Managing Director of the state-owned Edo Broadcasting Service. His appointment takes immediate effect.
“Aledeh is an international journalist, editor-at-large, strategic media, and communication consultant. He has over two decades of experience in broadcast journalism across both radio and television.
“He has made significant contributions to prestigious international news channels, including Al Jazeera, SABC, and GB News UK. Currently, he anchors various news programmes at ARISE News and shares his insights on Classic FM.”
The statement highlighted Aledeh’s educational background and early media career, noting:
“A graduate of Philosophy from the University of Benin (1999), Suleiman began his media career while still a student, working at Edo Broadcasting Service.
“He later served at Ebonyi Radio during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, becoming the first corps member permitted to read the station’s major news bulletin.
“He further established his voice at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, where he created and presented influential shows.
“His journey into national television began with one of Africa’s foremost media companies, where he anchored flagship news programmes on TVC and Channels Television.”
His tenure at Channels Television was particularly impactful, as the statement noted:
“His tenure at Channels Television further solidified his expertise in producing compelling television content, delivering some of the network’s most memorable promos, and covering significant events, including the 2011 and 2015 general elections.”
Aledeh’s accomplishments extended beyond journalism into corporate communication:
“As the Assistant General Manager and Head of Media and Communications at Eko Disco, Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution company, Aledeh demonstrated strong leadership in strategic communication.”
The statement also recognized his professional affiliations and academic achievements:
“He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
“Sulaiman holds a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos and has served as a Special Correspondent and News Anchor at ARISE News in London and Lagos.”
With his vast experience and expertise, Aledeh’s appointment is expected to bring transformative leadership to the Edo Broadcasting Service.
