The United Kingdom has reiterated its commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria and providing efficient, user-friendly visa services.
This assurance was delivered during a visit by Marc Owen, Director of UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), to Nigeria, one of the largest markets for UK visa applications.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday by Onyinye Madu, Senior Communications Officer at the British High Commission in Abuja.
Owen’s visit included engagements with key stakeholders in Abuja and Lagos to discuss developments in UK visa services. Topics included the global rollout of eVisas and strategies to uphold the integrity of the UK’s immigration system.
Owen emphasised the advantages of digitising official records, such as birth and death certificates, highlighting how this could improve the storage, transfer, and verification of documents.
The UKVI Director also warned applicants about fraud, advising them to use only official UKVI platforms to avoid visa scams or unverified travel agents.
