South African singer and songwriter Zahara is set to make her acting debut in a coming movie titled “Mbali”.
In a brief interview with TshisaLIVE, she announced that the shooting for the movie is scheduled to begin next month.
“Mine is one of the main roles. I am not an extra. I will be on the screen often. I was approached to be part of the film and jumped at the opportunity. I am nervous. There is a lot to learn but I feel confident,” she says.
Further in the interview, she revealed that acting is not a sudden interest as she has always had it in her since she was a kid.
“My mother always said I should be a comedian or actress. She told me I would do well at it, so it was always part of the plan.”
When asked about her upcoming music project, she confirmed that there is a new album on the way.
“I am working hard in the studio on new music and want to release my album this year. I am also touring overseas a lot and have one or two other things in the pipeline.”
The 31-year-old singer has released a total of six albums, with her latest, “Mgodi” achieving platinum status just 20 hours after release.
