The Ugandan shilling strengthened on Thursday, buoyed by hard currency inflows from charities and exporters of commodities such as coffee and gold, according to traders. By 0728 GMT, commercial banks were quoting the shilling at 3,666/3,676 per dollar, an improvement from Wednesday’s close of 3,673/3,683 per dollar.
Similarly, the Kenyan shilling remained stable on Thursday, supported by dollar inflows from diaspora remittances and tea exports, traders reported. At 0657 GMT, the shilling traded at 129.00/129.50 per dollar, maintaining the same level as Wednesday’s closing rate.
