Security operatives have taken over the palace of the Emir of Kano. This comes, following reports that the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II planned to address some economists on the issue of the tax reforms bills.
As of the time of this report, Police vehicles blocked entrance into the palace. News Central also gathered that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is scheduled to accompany the newly appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his official district posting in Bichi.
Sources also confirmed that the Bichi Emir’s Palace is under heavy security, with armed policemen deployed to the area.
The Chairman of Bichi local government council, Alhaji Hamza Mai fata asked residents to remain law-abiding and peaceful. Mai fata said a new date for the gathering will be announced by Kano emirate.
According to a statement seen by our sources and signed by the local government information officer, Tasiu Jibo Dawanau, the area remains calm as people went about their normal business activities.
Two weeks ago, the National Chairman of APC, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, while at Bichi, insisted that the Bichi Emirate Council remains valid and that Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero remains the instituted emir.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, while acting on the newly passed Kano Emirate Council Law, invalidated the five emirs, removing them from their emirates.
