A trailer for American actor Jamie Foxx’s upcoming Netflix comedy special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was,” was released on Thursday.
It shows the Oscar-winning comedian and actor taking the stage in front of a cheering audience and declaring, “I’m back!” “And I’m so glad to see you all here; I’m so glad to be here,” Foxx says.
According to an official synopsis for the special, Foxx will set the record straight about his health crisis “with humour and vulnerability.”
Jamie turns this performance into a heartfelt thank you to his fans as he thanks everyone who prayed for and supported his recovery amid laughs and applause. “This comedy event serves as a reminder of the therapeutic value of laughter and is a celebration of humour, resiliency, and the strength of community,” the synopsis says.
Since his hospitalisation in April 2023, Foxx has not worked on a motion picture or television show till the special. He was in Atlanta at the time, filming “Back in Action,” a Netflix movie that stars Cameron Diaz and will be streamed in January.
Given his reputation for keeping his personal affairs private, Foxx has not yet made public the reason for his hospitalisation.
“Ray” actor gave a brief explanation of his decision to withhold additional details about the experience in a July 2023 video that was uploaded to his Instagram page.
He stated that he didn’t want the public “to see me like that” at the time, saying, “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, or watching a television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.” “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was” will be streamed on Netflix on December 10.
