Before their eagerly awaited Premier League matchup with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has shot down rumours that his club is the favourites.
Even if Chelsea is in second place in the league, Maresca maintains that the results do not always work in their favour.
Speaking at a press conference before the game, Maresca apologised for saying, “We are not favourites,” as reported by sports journalist Fabrizio Romano via X on Sunday. They participate in the European tournament just like us, but we are by no means favourites just because we are ranked second on the table.
The game is expected to be high stakes, with Chelsea hoping to keep up their impressive league record and the Spurs hoping to move up the standings.
Spurs will play Chelsea at home on Sunday at 17:30 Nigerian time.
