Tragedy struck in the southwestern province of Isparta on Monday, where a military training exercise turned fatal as two Turkish helicopters collided mid-air, killing six soldiers.
Provincial Governor Abdullah Erin said that the collision occurred during a training flight, resulting in the crash of one of the helicopters.
Initially, both Governor Erin and the defence ministry reported that five soldiers had lost their lives in the accident. However, as the day progressed, one of the critically injured soldiers succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The second helicopter, fortunately, managed to land safely without sustaining serious damage.
As investigations begin, officials have yet to disclose specific details regarding the factors that led to the crash, leaving many unanswered questions surrounding this tragic event.
